3. Your Account
3.1 Registration
To purchase and access a course, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account details up to date.
3.2 Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your username and password. You must not share your account with any other person. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, notify us immediately at info@crownethics.com.
3.3 One account per person
Each account is for a single named individual. Course access and certificates are personal to the registered learner. Sharing login credentials or accessing a course purchased by another person is not permitted and may result in account suspension without refund.
4. Purchasing a Course
4.1 How to purchase
Courses are purchased through our website checkout. By clicking 'Enrol now' and completing payment, you make an offer to purchase the course at the stated price. The contract between us is formed when we send you a purchase confirmation email.
4.2 Pricing
All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) inclusive of any applicable taxes. We reserve the right to change course prices at any time. Price changes will not affect purchases already completed.
4.3 Payment
Payment is taken in full at the time of purchase. We accept major credit and debit cards via our payment provider. We do not store your card details — payment processing is handled securely by our payment provider under their PCI-DSS certification.
4.4 Confirmation
On successful payment, you will receive an order confirmation by email and will be enrolled in the course immediately. If you do not receive a confirmation within 30 minutes, please check your spam folder and then contact us at info@crownethics.com.
5. Course Access
5.1 Access period
On purchase you receive 365 days of access to the course from the date of purchase. You may work through the course at your own pace within this period. Access ends automatically after 365 days and cannot be extended unless stated otherwise at the time of purchase.
5.2 Self-paced delivery
All courses are self-paced. There are no scheduled sessions, deadlines within the access period, or live elements. You may start, pause, and return to the course at any time during your access period. Progress is saved automatically.
5.3 Technical requirements
You are responsible for ensuring you have access to a device and internet connection suitable for accessing the course. We recommend a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) and a stable broadband connection. We do not guarantee compatibility with all devices or browsers.
5.4 Assessment and certificate
Each course includes a final assessment. You must pass the final assessment at the required pass mark (stated on the course page) to receive your certificate of completion. You may retake the assessment within your access period if you do not pass on the first attempt. The certificate is issued digitally and is available to download from your account.
6. Refunds and Cancellations
6.1 Digital content — statutory right
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day cooling-off period in which you may cancel a digital content purchase and receive a full refund — unless you have already begun accessing the course content.
6.2 Refunds after course access has begun
Once you have accessed any course content, your right to a 14-day cancellation refund is waived. We will not ordinarily provide refunds after course access has begun, except where:
- The course contains a material error that significantly affects its educational value, which we are unable to resolve
- You are entitled to a refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 because the course is not as described
- We cancel or permanently withdraw the course before you have completed it
6.3 How to request a refund
To request a refund, email info@crownethics.com within 14 days of purchase with your order number and reason. We will respond within 5 working days. Approved refunds are processed within 10 working days.
6.4 Promotional prices
Courses purchased at a promotional or discounted price are non-refundable unless the course is faulty or not as described.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Our content
All content on our website and within our courses — including text, graphics, videos, assessments, templates, and certificates — is the intellectual property of CrownEthics and is protected by UK copyright law. All rights are reserved.
7.2 Your personal licence
On purchase, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the course content for your own personal professional development during your 365-day access period.
7.3 Prohibited uses
You must not, without our prior written permission:
- Copy, reproduce, republish, or distribute any course content
- Share, sell, or transfer your access to any other person
- Use course content for commercial training or teaching purposes
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use automated tools to access, scrape, or download course content
8. Acceptable Use
You agree to use our platform and courses only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You must not:
- Use our platform in any way that violates applicable UK or international law
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of our systems
- Transmit any material that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, defamatory, or obscene
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of our website or platform
- Use our platform for any purpose other than accessing your purchased course
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these terms, without obligation to provide a refund.
9. Course Content and Accuracy
9.1 Educational purpose
CrownEthics courses are written for educational and professional development purposes. Every course is reviewed by a medically qualified doctor before publication. Course content is aligned with current UK regulatory frameworks, including GMC Good Medical Practice 2024, the NMC Code, and the nine-regulator joint statement on reflective practice.
9.2 Not legal advice
9.3 Accuracy and updates
We take reasonable care to ensure course content is accurate and up to date. Regulatory guidance and legislation can change. We regularly review our courses but cannot guarantee that all content reflects the most recent changes at all times. You should always refer to your regulator's current published standards as the authoritative source.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 What we do not exclude
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under English law.
10.2 What we exclude
Subject to clause 10.1, CrownEthics shall not be liable for:
- Any loss or damage arising from your reliance on course content for any formal regulatory, legal, or disciplinary purpose
- Any outcome in a fitness to practise process, investigation, or regulatory proceeding
- Loss of income, revenue, business, or opportunity arising from your use of our courses
- Any indirect or consequential loss of any kind
- Loss or damage caused by temporary unavailability of our platform due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control
10.3 Total liability cap
Our total liability to you in connection with any course shall not exceed the amount you paid for that course.
11. Platform Availability
We aim to keep our platform available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may need to take the platform offline for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. We will endeavour to give advance notice of scheduled maintenance where possible. Planned downtime does not entitle you to an extension of your access period unless the unavailability is prolonged and materially affects your ability to complete the course.
12. Third-Party Services
Our platform uses third-party services including payment processors and learning management tools. These operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions or terms of any third-party service provider.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on our website and notify you by email if changes are material. Your continued use of our platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The date at the top of this page shows when these terms were last revised.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Before initiating any formal dispute, we encourage you to contact us at info@crownethics.com to attempt resolution informally. We will respond within 5 working days.
